Search Organizations by fax number?

Hi, I am testing receiving fax to different Organizations under my Medplum implementation, and I have to find the Organization that's receiving a certain fax. I try to do:
Copy code
const organizations = await medplum.searchResources('Organization', {
    telecom: `fax|${receivedFax.to}`,
  });
but it returns an error that reads that
telecom
is an unsupported search parameter. Any guidance on this one?

medplum user here- https://hl7.org/fhir/r4/organization.html#search Supported search parameters for a particular resource type (i.e. Organization) are listed in the FHIR R4 docs. Medplum also keeps a small set of [custom](https://github.com/medplum/medplum/blob/main/packages/definitions/dist/fhir/r4/search-parameters-medplum.json) search parameters but it's generally* for their own custom, non-R4 resources. If you have control over the Organization resources, maybe you could consider including the fax number as an
identifier
, which you could then search on. Otherwise, you may need to search all
Organization
resources then find/filter client-side. \* thank you medplum team for Location.physical-type 🙏

thank you! I'll try with the
identifier

Thanks so much for responding @nathan-watkins-unityai ! That's exactly right. I will say it's quite the shame that the FHIR standard doesn't include searching organizations by telecom by default. Feels like a clear miss
