08/01/2026, 9:33 PMDeepgram Voice Agent — token mints fine (/v1/auth/grant 200, Member-scoped key, $200 credits on the account), but wss://agent.deepgram.com/v1/agent/converse refuses the upgrade with no close code. Is Voice Agent enabled by default on a new Pay-As-You-Go project, or does it need turning on?

08/01/2026, 9:43 PMJust dies — no close code, no reason, no request id. Chrome logs "WebSocket connection to 'wss://agent.deepgram.com/v1/agent/converse' failed:" with nothing after the colon. Browser client, token passed as Sec-WebSocket-Protocol subprotocol ["token", ]. Token mint returns 200. Just tried switching listen model nova-3-medical → nova-3, same result.

08/01/2026, 10:02 PMUpdate with logging in place: onclose never fires and onopen never fires — I log the Settings payload on open and it never prints. So the connection dies during the WebSocket handshake, before upgrade completes; there's no close frame and no code at all. Chrome shows only WebSocket connection to 'wss://agent.deepgram.com/v1/agent/converse' failed: with nothing after the colon. Browser client, subprotocol ["token", ], /v1/auth/grant returns 200, model now nova-3. Will come by after your workshop.
