Patient Extensions Not Rendering in Medplum UI

Hi! I'm using Medplum in self-hosted mode, and I’ve configured it to use a local (public) HAPI FHIR server as the backend. The StructureDefinition for the Patient resource already includes extension and modifierExtension elements. These extensions are visible in the raw resource JSON, but they are not rendered automatically in the Medplum dashboard UI when viewing or editing a patient. Is it possible to make these extensions appear in the UI just by defining them in the StructureDefinition, without modifying the Medplum source code? If so: Is there any configuration needed to enable this behavior? Thanks in advance!

Hi there! This unfortunately is not a supported scenario.

Hi Reshma, thanks! What steps do I need to take to make the extension and modifierExtension fields appear in the Medplum UI (view/edit screens)? Is there a specific way to configure this, or do I need to customize the UI manually?

So I'm not sure how Hapi works - but Medplum ResourceTable can read the profiles and render properly as shown here:

Maybe use this as a starting point https://github.com/medplum/medplum/tree/main/packages/react/src/ResourceForm

Thanks so much for the links! I'll take a closer look at the video and the ResourceForm code to understand how Medplum handles rendering from profiles. That might be exactly what I need to get the extensions showing in the UI. Appreciate the help!
