In Medplum app, `HumanName` not displaying when on...

Hi there! We're creating some Practitioner resources with an unstructured HumanName, e.g.
{ "text": "Dr. Doctor Person" }
, since we do not have structured data about these names. According to the FHIR spec, as far as we can tell, this is kosher. However, the Medplum UI does not render these names! It looks likely to be a missing case in the
formatHumanName
helper, which should take
text
into consideration.
Furthermore... it doesn't look like I am able to search against the
text
field in a practitioner's
HumanName
either 🤔 when I try, the results come up empty. I am also using the name in a POST
ifNotExist
bundle (with
name=Dr. Doctor Person
as the search string), so the batch ends up creating duplicates.
It's neither working when doing an exact search, nor when doing a partial match

Hi @yale - I filed a ticket for the HumanName.text issue: https://github.com/medplum/medplum/issues/2987
Also confirmed that
text
is not included in
Patient?name=
search. Filed here: https://github.com/medplum/medplum/issues/2988
@yaaaaale - We will update the Medplum components and search behavior, because this does sound like a very confusing situation, especially if you're receiving FHIR data from disparate sources. If you are authoring this FHIR data yourself, beware that the spec says that
text
should only include data that is present in the other fields: https://hl7.org/fhir/R4/datatypes.html#HumanName > The text element specifies the entire name as it should be displayed e.g. in an application UI. This may be provided instead of or as well as the specific parts. Applications updating a name SHALL ensure that when both text and parts are present, no content is included in the text that isn't found in a part.
