in my case i have a user who link some patient as his/her relatedPerson . I want to update the resource of that related person while login from the same person/patient(not as the related person) . Is it possible?
r
Hi @prashant_react - this should be possible.
RelatedPerson
is just like any other FHIR resource. As long as the Patient has access permissions to modify the
RelatedPerson
resource, they should be able to do it

Where do we manage the permission from? Do i have to change user profile to practitioner or make him admin or i can just change the details by being just a patient for the related person. As mention in the medplum documentation, it is stated that Related person does not store specific information about the father. It only stores the relationship between the father and child. and we have to make a separate patient for the child to do so... i have created the relatedPerson resource and a patient resource for child. this is my json: as mentioned in the approch 3 https://www.medplum.com/docs/fhir-datastore/family-relationships#approach-3
Copy code
// Patient representing the parent
{
  "resourceType": "Patient",
  "id": "123",
  "link": [
    {
      "other": {
        "reference": "RelatedPerson/homer-lisa-related-person"
      },
      "type": "seealso"
    },
    {
      "other": {
        "reference": "RelatedPerson/homer-bart-related-person"
      },
      "type": "seealso"
    }
  ]
}
// RelatedPerson modeling Father -> Daughter relationship
{
  "resourceType": "RelatedPerson",
  "id": "homer-lisa-related-person",
  "relationship": [
    {
      "text": "father",
      "coding": [
        {
          "system": "http://terminology.hl7.org/CodeSystem/v3-RoleCode",
          "code": "FTH",
          "display": "father"
        }
      ]
    }
  ]
}

//Patient
{
  "resourceType": "Patient",
  "id": "lisa-simpson"
}
i am confused in this part , will the patient create automatically by the system when we create a related person or do we have to do it manually. In the code above i am not getting the json after //Patient how are we getting that or should we create a new patient and link it with relatedPerson somehow with the id or something And for the main concern how can i change the resorces for the lisa-simpson patient by loggin in with homer i.e: // Patient representing the parent
Soory for so much comments going on here... i hope you are getting what i am confused about

RelatedPerson
) when logged in as a patient
> As mention in the medplum documentation, it is stated that Related person does not store specific information about the father. It only stores the relationship between the father and child. and we have to make a separate patient for the child to do so... Yes. I know it can be a bit cumbersome, but in general it makes sense to have 2 patients, plus a
RelatedPerson
> Where do we manage the permission from? Do i have to change user profile to practitioner or make him admin or i can just change the details by being just a patient for the related person. By default, we do not have access restrictions on an account. However, you can use access policies (https://www.medplum.com/docs/access/access-policies) to implement restrictions on reading / writing resources
> i am confused in this part , will the patient create automatically by the system when we create a related person or do we have to do it manually. No, in general Medplum doesn't automatically create resources
