medplum aws init with IAM Identity Center

I'm trying to follow the self-hosting setup instructions [here](https://www.medplum.com/docs/self-hosting/install-on-aws#run-the-init-tool) but I'm getting the error:

It appears that you do not have AWS credentials configured.
AWS credentials are not strictly required, but will enable some additional features.
If you intend to use AWS credentials, please configure them now.
Do you want to continue without AWS credentials? [y|n]
I'm using IAM Identity Center (SSO), and have run
aws configure sso
and
aws sso login
, with
~/.aws/config
populated. However,
~/.aws/credentials
is empty, because [that's not used by for IAM Identity Center (SSO)](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/cli/latest/userguide/cli-configure-files.html). Do I need to generate [short-term credentials](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/cli/latest/userguide/cli-authentication-short-term.html) and add them to
~/.aws/credentials
to run
medplum aws init
, or can I use my IAM user?
Update: I went ahead with the short-term credentials route, and it worked. Not a big deal, but would be nice to have IAM support.

Hi there, Samir -- yes – I did exactly the same thing as you. I was using IAM Identity Center, SSO – and getting the same errors. And I kept thinking I was going to mess things up by proceeding. I think I ended up making the error message go away somehow, even though I am using Identity Center SSO. But I think the way I did it is I created a separate Secret and Access Credentials – but it was a very pesky warning sign and made me a little bit paranoid about moving forward. But I'm glad to hear that your version worked. 🙂 Mine seems to be working, as far as I can tell also! 🙂
