`StartNewUser` missing meta project
# support

Hi, for context, our patient portal allows patients to self-register and we are using the Medplum React
RegisterForm
component, my understanding is under the hood, it calls
startNewUser
to create a new
User
resource first, but it appears the resource is missing the meta.
project
, so as a project admin (we are not self-host), I'm unable to access this User resource. Could you please take a look into this? Thank you! Here is the
StartNewUser
code for your reference: https://github.com/medplum/medplum/blob/27aeffe3440c15cffc50d42f4c9f50c81cd00508/packages/server/src/auth/newuser.ts#L109

Hi Guoyi, thanks for reaching out about this. I'm taking a look at your findings and will get back to you shortly!
Hey Guoyi, thanks for your patience here. Just to confirm, are you passing the
projectId
prop to your
RegisterForm
component?

Hi Darren, thanks for your help and yes, I am passing the
projectId
prop to the
RegisterForm
component. It looks like the
User
resource has been created, but my account (project admin account without any access policy attach to it) don’t have access to it. The
ProjectMembership
has a valid
User
resource reference but shows
not found
after I click into it. I'm wondering if it's because the meta.project field is not referencing my project, so I don't have access to it even though I'm a project admin.

Thanks for confirming and reporting this Guoyi! I've went ahead and filed a GH issue for this: https://github.com/medplum/medplum/issues/8489

Thank you for your quick response, Darren!
