Reset password doesn't work?

Hi there! I deployed Medplum app to AWS and set up AWS SES for emails. I created a new project in Medplum and use the admin account to invite a new user. I've received the invite email. However, it's not clear to me how to set the password for a new user. I tried to reset password for the new account, but clicking the reset password button doesn't do anything. Could anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you! https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1434302138951139562/1434302139282493551/image.png?ex=6907d576&is=690683f6&hm=460dc4cfafeca04e97018904ba1dceccc844fcb92bd800d6dc516bd48f711b26& https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1434302138951139562/1434302139739410525/image.png?ex=6907d576&is=690683f6&hm=df46616341cc3cebeea5f2054b6c04993144987383352dda716a3010ad80199f&

Thanks, @reshma ! I followed the instructions on https://www.medplum.com/docs/user-management/custom-emails#setup-recaptcha. it says > Once you have your "Site Key" and "Secret Key", you will need to configure your Medplum project. Go to Projects and click "Edit...". Enter the "Site Key" and "Secret Key" in the "reCAPTCHA" section. It doesn't seem like Super Admin->Projects->Project->Edit has a "reCAPTCHA" section. Am I missing anything? FYI, I'm self-hosting in AWS. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1434302138951139562/1437889273285185711/image.png?ex=6914e23d&is=691390bd&hm=cbf26510253012bea70a36b3a282c4af17726dbed7ac2f9e66fc501b8f730da0&
Or the reCAPTCHA needs to be configurated in the AWS Parameter Store based on this documentation, https://www.medplum.com/docs/self-hosting/config-settings#recaptchasitekey

Hey @Ni 👋 , which API request is failing and what is the error message? If it is the [.../resetpassword](https://www.medplum.com/docs/api/auth/resetpassword) endpoint, you may need to specify
recaptchaSiteKey
and
recaptchaToken
as part of the req body
Check out [Project](https://www.medplum.com/docs/api/fhir/medplum/project) to see where the recaptcha fields are stored on the Project resource. You can always directly update the resource JSON. The UI at
<your-self-hosted-medplum-app-url>/admin/sites
will also let you add the recaptcha fields [Recommended approach]

Hey @finnbergquist thank you for your response! I created reCAPTCHA "Site Key" and "Secret Key" following the steps here, https://www.medplum.com/docs/user-management/custom-emails#setup-recaptcha. I tested both keys with JS and curl command to ensure the reCAPTCHA site key and secret key work locally. I added them to /admin/sites (2nd screenshot). I went back to /resetpassword. Clicked the Reset Password button. It turns out there is an error submitting the reset password api call. (1st screenshot) The error message shows it needs reCAPTCHA client id, which was added to the project->sites-> Recaptcha Site Key and Recaptcha Secret Key. Could you please point me in the right direction? Should I config the Recaptcha Site Key and Recaptcha Secret Key in the AWS Parameter Store as described here instead? https://www.medplum.com/docs/self-hosting/config-settings#recaptchasitekey https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1434302138951139562/1437982234190544968/image.png?ex=691538d1&is=6913e751&hm=23a571fce16127278eae47378d5c57ca536cbaeb1c16d8016eb42566af12065b& https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1434302138951139562/1437982234563969145/Screenshot_2025-11-11_at_5.41.42_PM.png?ex=691538d1&is=6913e751&hm=441bec41e326d0ce6d73f1080623b974918e9ad9c25f9d1f64a5d5bd622621dc&
RE: > Should I config the Recaptcha Site Key and Recaptcha Secret Key in the AWS Parameter Store as described here instead? https://www.medplum.com/docs/self-hosting/config-settings#recaptchasitekey I tried this and redeployed medplum server in AWS, but still got the same front-end error. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1434302138951139562/1438005972621856828/image.png?ex=69154eec&is=6913fd6c&hm=2fcf2c0d163cca03e6bfeb0795c132e97d54269d6e407bb30b10c0b53e95648a&
I figured it out. The problem is on the Medplum front-end. I added
recaptchaSiteKey
to the
medplum.<env>.config.json
and ran
npx medplum aws update-app <env>
. This added the recaptchaSiteKey to the front-end app.
