Hi everyone! I've been working on using Medplum. It's been an incredible learning experience, and I thought I would make an Introductory Next.js Demo Application to help other devs get started!
š„ Project: HealthNut - A Post-Visit Care Management App
(
https://healthnut.app)
š What it does:
- Manages patient profiles on an organizational level
- Handles patient and practitioner invites via APIs
- Stores and retrieves various FHIR resources (Patient, Practitioner, DocumentReference, Binary)
- Uploads and manages PDFs and voice recordings as attachments in the FHIR layer.
- Compiles and displays patient resources in a user-friendly interface
š ļø Things you can see in the GitHub:
(And I'm happy to add this to the Medplum Tutorial Applications)
1. Utilizing Medplum's TypeScript SDK for robust type-safe operations
2. Setting up Medplum client in a Next.js app
3. Managing authentication with access tokens and secure cookie handling
4. Creating and managing FHIR resources (Patient, DocumentReference, Binary)
5. Handling file uploads (PDF and audio) using Medplum's API
6. Integrating voice recording functionality (basic mediarecorder)
7. Building a responsive UI for healthcare data management
8. Implementing a practitioner invite system
9. Generating patient resources on the backend from frontend form submissions
10. Compiling and displaying patient resources efficiently

I'd love to hear your thoughts or answer any questions about the implementation. It's not perfect, and there is so much room for improvement ā but hopefully this helps some people get things started. Feel free to use this as a starter template for your own applications. Just remember before creating your own application, you'll need to sign up for an account on Medplum ā”ļø create a new Client Application within the Projects tab ā”ļø then you'll have access to your own Medplum Database that you can reference for data.
Happy coding, everyone! š
