Deploy custom medplum app on AWS self-host
# support

Hello. I am self-hosting medplum on AWS and have a question about deploying the medplum app. I have made some minor changes to the medplum app (like extra tabs in the sidebar) and would like to deploy my version instead of a prebuilt medplum app image. However, this step of the guide https://www.medplum.com/docs/self-hosting/install-on-aws#deploy-the-app only mentions "Historically this step required building from source.", but contains no information on how to do that. Any help?
d
by the app you mean the dashboard? we have a custom version, npm run build, and deploy it to S3

Yes, that is what I did, the required commands are found in
/medlpum/scripts/cicd-deploy.sh
and
/medplum/scripts/deploy-app.sh
. You also need an
.env
file in
/medplum/packages/app
to point to your medplum base URL, e.g.
MEDPLUM_BASE_URL=https://api.example.com/
.

@slawa_p As you discovered, the build step leaves some placeholders for config settings for the app. Our AWS deploy tooling sets these for you
