Group chat implementation

Hi @rahul1 @finnbergquist , we are implementing a group chat feature for our internal communication b/w the Practitioners . we would want ability to tag other Practitioners and also record who has seen a particular message. Initial plan was to to use Payload string to store the text and payload contentReference to store the tagged patient but payload is not a searchable field. Our current plan is to add an 'identifier' for each tagged user and use the 'recipient' field to record each Practitioner who viewed the message. What do you think of this approach and open for any suggestions .

HI @charithv , I jst wanted to make sure you saw our Chat Demo Application

In this example we demonstrate how to build threaded group chat
My recommendation for tagging other Pracitioners would be to add them as participants to the thread
that would allow you to use the same queries to find all messages they should be notified by
in terms of tracking who has seen each particular message, you might want to consider an extension for that functionality

Hi @rahul1 thank you very much for this info we will look into this . But just have one follow up question i can store who has seen a message using extension but they are not searchable correct ?

that's right

What do you think of our approach . Store tagged user refs under identifier and seems users under recipient's. Using identifiers to store references does not seem like a good approach but seems to solving our purpose . What are your thoughts.

For any users that need to be notified, I would recommend adding them as a participant in the thread header
