Hi all! We're planning to release some minor upgrades to the resource validation logic for Medplum server in our next release, and wanted to point out some important changes that could potentially cause resources that are successfully being written today to start returning validation errors after the release: -
base64binary
properties will now strictly check the expected Base64 character set (https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc4648#section-4): newline characters or punctuation characters other than
+
,
/
, and
=
will not be allowed -
date
and
dateTime
fields will also be more strictly validated, and specifically a full
dateTime
like
2023-07-04T12:34:56Z
in a
date
property will no longer be accepted by the server We've been running the new validation code in parallel with the existing validator for over a week in production, and have reached out to everyone who we know would be immediately impacted by these changes, but if your application starts encountering new validation errors due to this change there is a workaround available. You have the option of temporarily turning off Strict Mode in your Project settings; this will allow you to update your application without an interruption of service during the transition
