Hi all, Great to met you. Working on a med tech application - been a developer for long but still I am early on my journey as a developer in medical space. Looking forward to exploring Medplum and connecting with the community here. I have a novice question that you experienced folks could point me in the right direction. I am looking to pull-in Quest diagnostic lab data via API (and other diagnostic lab data) & came across Human API. Plan to explore them & have reached out to them for access. Their pricing is opaque, so I was wondering if there any other vendors that you'd suggest exploring.

Hi Kristen - first of all great to see you here. So a couple of follow up questions: 1) You just want the data? Or do you need to place orders as well? 2) Does your app face patients? Or is it for providers/clinicians? (The reason I'm asking is that it relates to the consents/legal agreements needed) cc: @dgoncharov

@reshma : Appreciate your response. To answer your question: 1. I just want the data. 2. The app faces patients. In a way I am trying to pull in the data for the patient from various lab diagnostics so they can review it all in one place.

You might consider Flexpa as a data source. https://www.flexpa.com/docs - it's data from claims but patients should have access if they billed. Quest also does have a FHIR server, but am unclear on whether it supports patient access https://smartonfhir.elabs.quanumsolutions.com/quanum-ehr-fhir-server/fhir

Hey sorry to revive an old thread, but I had a similar question but from the provider side -- placing orders and receiving results. I found a "lab connectivity and data definition" doc linked from https://www.medplum.com/docs/integration but do not have access Does medplum have any guidance around this?
r
Yup a couple of pointers: 1) If you are looking to build a native lab integration with a partner lab - this might be of use https://github.com/medplum/medplum/tree/main/examples/medplum-demo-bots/src/lab-integration 2) If you want to use an exchange, like HealthGorilla background here https://github.com/medplum/medplum/tree/main/examples/medplum-demo-bots/src/health-gorilla
Which scenario are you looking at?
h
Excellent! We were most likely looking at going through an exchange like HG. I've heard it is a bit easier getting off the ground, but if anyone has experience w/ either I'd love to learn more 🙂
