Clerk integration?

Wondering if you guys have any advice for integration with clerk auth
r
Hi @lkh100 - we don't have any specific advice for Clerk at the moment
I know some other community members have tried it, but there was some limitations on the Clerk side; I'm not sure if they've addressed those
However, that limitation was only for the "token exchange" auth method
If you're wokring on the traditional three-part redirect method, you might be ok

We're interested in Clerk integration, too. We've been considering Clerk and [Better Auth](https://github.com/better-auth/better-auth), but Better Auth may not work with Medplum since it uses your own database rather than a separate auth database. Are there any easy-to-implement Clerk alternatives that work well with Medplum?

Hey @benyn , we have seen lots of people use Okta. Here are some [docs](https://www.medplum.com/docs/auth/methods/domain-level-identity-providers#okta-setup) showing how to set this up.

Thanks! We weren’t keen on Okta but will take another look

Google auth is also popular!

I know this is an old thread but I'm investigating this now. I use clerk for my auth on my apps (3 platforms, nextjs, ios and android) and have been working on how I can use MP inside to enable some EHR like functionality, since our app bolts onto ehr's and people are asking us for our own EHR platform, However I cannot do a token exchange successfully with meplum which brought me to this tread. I can do the 3 way oAuth but that really forces the user to auth into my app then re-auth the same account with medplum. This isn't ideal. I searched on clerk and there are really just 2-3 messages in discord about this. From my work it seems that the Clerk JWT to the oAuth token is a problem. is that what others discovered? Thx and I'm enjoying the MP experience. Wes

I'm doing clerk for our SSO for our apps with Medplum. We're accomplishing this by creating an OAuth client for our apps in Clerk and then aligning the keys and redirects with a Medplum OAuth Client. We're essentailly doing a flow like in this example app from Medplum https://github.com/medplum/medplum-provider

Thx, I ended up doing something similar. It's working decently.
